What are the advantages of a Charge Card compared to a Debit Card?
Purchases made with a Charge Card will be debited once a month from your bank account when payment to American Express is made, giving Cardmembers a period of interest-free credit. What is the difference between a Basic Card, an Additional Card and a Supplementary Card?
The Basic Card is the main Card that is issued to the main applicant (‘Basic Cardmember’). The Additional Card is a second card that is issued to the Basic Cardmember to help separate business from personal spend, for example, and comes as standard for Platinum and Centurion Cards. The Supplementary Card is a Card that is issued to an individual designated by the Basic Cardmember, such as a family member or a close friend, and is linked to the Basic Card account.
-
Why does my client receive two cards when they apply for a Platinum or Centurion Card?
The Basic Card holder receives a Basic and an Additional Card. The Cards have separate card numbers but are linked to the same statement. Charges are listed on the statement by Cardnumber therefore a Basic Cardmember may wish to use the both Cards to track spend e.g. personal vs business expenditure, spend in one country vs another. In addition, as the Cards have separate Card numbers it is possible to cancel one Card without cancelling the account, providing the Cardmember has a back up Card in the event the Card one card is lost or stolen.
